Read, Write, Count
November 2022
During term 2, we invited pupils in primary 2 & 3 to attend our ‘Read, Write, Count’ family learning workshops with their parents. These workshops ran for 3 weeks and provided the children and parents with an opportunity to explore the books and materials within their ‘Read, Write, Count’ bags. We used a range of strategies and completed some fun learning activities across subject areas such as Literacy, Numeracy, Technologies and Art & Design. Parents were also given useful materials such as Literacy & Numeracy key fobs and activity placemats.
“Parental involvement in children’s learning is one of the best ways to improve educational outcomes for all children. Read, Write, Count aims to build parents’ confidence and encourage families to include easy and fun reading, writing and counting activities in their everyday lives”. Scottish Book Trust
